This three week series expounds the church’s mission and purpose to elevate Christ in the world. Each Christian is called to exalt Christ and unite with other believers in doing it. In this series we are going to look at God’s design for the church, the core teachings and tasks, and also what’s at the heart of Bridgeway Church. We hope each person will elevate their commitment to Christ and service to his church.
As we observe Christmas this year, are you celebrating the popular Jesus or the real Jesus. The Jesus that sits on par with elves and reindeer, or the Jesus who made people tremble in his presence, who knows the thoughts of skeptics, forgave sinners and extended peace, and disced the uptight religious people who wanted to be near him but not adore him.
The Christmas carols have begun. December is here. We are celebrating the birth of Christ. We celebrate the births of people who did great things and changed the world. Christ changed the world in a way no other person could. Today's passage helps us see the dramatic change that only Christ can bring. He brings it to the world and to us.
People are seeing the need to be more thankful. Some connect it with the way to be emotionally healthy. I agree that we need to be emotionally healthy and expressing gratitude helps us get there. But God wants you healthy in every way. That health begins with a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our mission as a church is to exalt Jesus Christ. We want others to know him. We want others to know his love. We want them to know how relevant and impacting his teaching is. We want others to know how we are helped by it. That requires people joining/committing together for that purpose.
How will your story end. Will your story find its ending in the story of God. Will you find God's design and purpose for you? Will you discover how all the Fall's brokenness, hardship, disappointment and distortion in your life can be redeemed in Christ?
